American Opera Projects presented several of my songs as part of a concert of music from their ongoing workshop, Composers and the Voice, in which I have been taking part. The concert was at Symphony Space and was part of City Opera's larger Vox and Friends festival. For more information about American Opera Projects, visit www.operaprojects.org
The Serafin String Quartet performed Dance Dance Dance on a concert at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. The Serafin have been performing this piece for over a year and this was a landmark concert for them and the closest I'll get to Carnegia Hall for a while yet.
Avian Music presented another in their series of themed concerts. This one, Play Ball, focused on sports-inspired music and featured the world premiere of my piece, Gooooooooooal!!!, along with new music by many other composers in the atmospheric setting of a 19th century gymnasium with panoramic views of the city.
Boston's acclaimed new music group, Dinosaur Annex, will be performing several movements of my piece, Migratory Routes, with choreography by Nicola Hawkins Dance Company. For more info, visit www.dinosaurannex.org.
Performed by Douglas McNames and Alan Whear at the Carmel Bach Festival, California.
The Mid-Atlantic based Serafin Quartet performed this string quartet twice in Camden, NJ and Wilmington, Delaware to enthusiastic audiences.
The Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble premiered the overture, Eroding The Helix, in Brooklyn as part of their regular concert series with Petr Kotik conducting. Kyle Gann described the piece as "snazzy and slickly orchestrated" in the Village Voice.
NYC's Avian Orchestra premiered the new works, The International Lover and The Filthy Pleasure, a series of songs on love, lust, sex, and jealousy, as part of their Valentine's Day concert, Love Machines & Shameless Hussies. In addition to the premieres, the group also resurrected Flint's older works, Lust in Action and Jealousy #2, written in collaboration with Conrad Cummings. These concerts marked a watershed moment for Peter Flint as they coincided with the his premiere performance of his Eroding the Helix by of the Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble, thus being the first time in his career that he had two different premieres taking place at the same time in the same city. Visit
